Teriyaki Chicken Stir-fry

This teriyaki chicken stir fry recipe is full of satiating protein and colourful crisp broccoli, all tossed in homemade teriyaki sauce!

This chicken teriyaki tastes like it came from a restaurant but is so easy to make at home. It’s healthy, quick and kid friendly!

TIP: If you work out of the house - be sure to portion and pack up a healthy office lunch from your leftovers. I will often make a double batch on purpose so we have fast, healthy lunches for the week. #cookonceeattiwce

Ingredients: (Serves 4)

Chicken (1lbs chopped into bite size pieces)

Broccoli (4-6 cups chopped)

1-2 Tbsp EVOO

Whole grain rice (2 cups cooked)

Teriyaki Sauce

Toasted sesame seeds


Pre-cook rice in a steamer or rice cooker. I use Uncle Bens whole grain brown minute rice. It takes 10 minutes in my steamer. (affiliate link)

Heat oil in a wok over medium eat.

Add chicken and sautéed until golden.

Add broccoli and sauté until al dente, about 4-5 minutes

Add teriyaki sauce (see below) and mix well.

Top with toasted sesame seeds.

Portion into 4 servings and enjoy!

For the Teriyaki Sauce:


1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free option

3 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon minced garlic

2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger

Optional: 1 teaspoon sriracha

Optional thickener: 2 teaspoons cornstarch


Place soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, and ginger into a mason jar.

Close the lid and shake until combined.

Option to add heat if you like a little spice like me. I suggest adding sriracha by the teaspoon.

To thicken: place sauce in a small saucepan and heat over medium/high heat. Once the sauce begins to bubble, add in 2 teaspoons of cornstarch and whisk until dissolved and the sauce has thickened.
