MY STORY

How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become a Fitness and Nutrition Coach? 

To answer this question, it's probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and a resulting "compelling story", that brought me to where I am today – coaching women like you on exactly how to release the weight that’s holding you back from living your best and reclaim your energy, health and body - so you can feel FIT, SEXY and CONFIDENT in your own skin.

I have always struggled with my body image; I have never looked in the mirror and admired what I saw, specifically my belly. In my 20's I worked as a waitress and bartender, and the sad reality is that your looks affect your tips - the more attractive you are, the more popular, the more tips. One night on shift, a regular customer said to me "Whoa Tammy... you’re really beefing up a bit eh". I was mortified. This really stuck with me and had a profound effect on my self esteem. It propelled me into working out, getting fit and becoming more health conscious. 

The best thing was that I actually loved the feeling it gave me. I felt healthier, energized, empowered, more confident, sexier, and more in control. I wanted to learn more about health and fitness, so I started studying, and this was the start of my career. After completing various courses and studies, I began as a Personal Trainer and then went on to work as an Independent  Booty Camp Fitness instructor. Eventually, I created my own business empowering women to feel and look their best with simple fat loss nutrition and strength training called "Team T Training". At this time in my career, I was in my best shape with a strong, healthy, fit body and absolutely loving my work! I could honestly look in the mirror and say, "I look GREAT and I LOVE my body and life!”

THEN... I had a baby! I was 38 years old and a mom for the first time. What a shock to the system this was as overwhelm and exhaustion set in with motherhood. I thought I would just step away from my work for 4 months, have my baby, kind of get this done and dusted, and that I would be right back in my career seat again while also being the awesome mom I knew I could be. How wrong was I ...... What actually happened was the complete opposite! I can honestly say that from this super-fit woman, working out and eating healthy, I maybe worked out 5 times in the first 2 years of my daughter’s life. Take out became my preferred meal option because I was too tired to cook. She was a difficult baby who cried loads and didn't settle easily. I felt like a duck out of water and like I sucked as a mother.  

My confidence plummeted. I would climb out of the shower and quickly cover up with my house coat so my loving husband wouldn't see my body. I was 20 pounds overweight due to pregnancy and I was too overwhelmed and exhausted to be bothered to do anything about it. The extra weight further compounded the feeling that I would be a fraud if I went back to my career teaching and training other women how to be fit and healthy. I was not taking care of myself and felt as if I was back in my 20 year old mind again with all the same self-conscious and limiting thoughts. When I did summon up the courage to go back to work, I was then struck with the intense feeling of guilt being away from my baby.  This was the first time I really understood the challenges most moms face with having kids and trying to be all things: a great role model to your child, a sex bunny and good wife for your partner, a master maid and chef and, hold down a successful career.

I remember one morning my daughter and I were standing in the bathroom running through our usual routine. I turned to hang up my face towel and as I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, all these negative thoughts bombarded my mind. “Look how flabby your belly is, how out of shape you’ve become. You look so tired and old. Nothing fits or looks good on you anymore. You've really let yourself go". Then, I looked into the face of my daughter and thought, I would be horrified if she could hear what I was saying to myself. Here I am saying these negative, horrible things to myself instead of being a fun, loving and positive role model to my little girl.

​It was the tragic passing of my dad that made me really started to question what I was doing. My daughter was 1.5 years old when my dad passed away from a heart attack one week before I turned 40. When you are faced with your own immortality than things seem to really become real. He was the first person close to me that I had ever lost and it made me look at my life very differently. I wanted to be an amazing role model in my daughter’s life like he had been in mine. I wanted to live life differently. This meant that I had to demonstrate this not only through my words but through my actions and what I teach as well.

I cleaned up my past and started teaching other Women how they can do the same. I watched their fat disappear and their energy, health and confidence soar! I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping other Awesome Moms over the age of 40 release the weight that's holding them back from living their best life and reclaim their energy, health and body so they can feel fit, sexy, and confident, be a positive role model to their kids and live a long, happy and active life too.

Since then, I’ve worked with many private clients, spoken in front of countless groups, and lived my dream of empowering hundreds of women to make themselves a priority and take their health and body back while also being a happy, healthy and present Mom to my daughter Coral and I have created the Fads to Freedom Fat Loss Transformation Program, a series of 12 Fitness, Nutrition and Self Care Habits every woman needs to apply to burn fat, release the extra weight and reclaim their energy, health and body so they can feel fit, sexy and confident in their own skin.

Although we will occasionally touch upon fitness and nutrition-y things, you have me as a mindset mentor and habit change expert. I work on the inner and outer principles for success and look at your current health and body goals as well as your lifestyle from a holistic perspective. What that means to you is that you get a no-nonsense-meets-kick-butt authentic Personal Trainer and Fat Loss coach. 

 

I’m concerned with how to get you feeling AMAZING, releasing the weight that’s holding you back from living your best life and reclaim your energy, health and body FAST - to help you STOP wasting time on ridiculous fads and get you focused on doing the key body changing habits sooner. I don’t waste time or beat around the bush and I will always tell you the truth. The truth about what’s standing in the way of your success and how to get rid of it FAST so you can start getting results in record time (and I throw in a healthy dose of humor, love and inspiration, which always helps!).

What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?

The Fads to Freedom Fat Loss workshops, products and programs were created for people who are absolutely excited and dead serious about breaking out of their rut, changing their habits, ending the struggle with their body and food, and who are ready to release the extra weight and reclaim their energy, health and body now.

This means not running around all day long, beating yourself up anymore saying: “I’ve let myself go.” They were created for you to put systems in place within a few months (sometimes weeks!), which will eventually lead you to fat loss, better health, more confidence, a leaner and sexier body, increased energy, a longer life and the feeling of joy around food and fitness. That’s what I call Freedom!

Please know I’m very selective in who I work with and I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t suited for my programs and won’t get the results for which they would have signed up for. (It wouldn’t be fair to them.)

That depends on how quickly you can make those inner shifts and take action on the key habits. Some clients are ready to go, release weight, lose inches and feel energized in a very short time frame, sometimes even a few weeks while others have a bit more work to do first. It also depends on how long you’ve been stuck on the diet roller coaster. A lifetime of dieting, restricting nutrients, and not eating enough wreaks havoc on your metabolism so you may have to be patient for the first few weeks while we repair your system and fuel your body for success.
